Ten members of NEA’s North Edinburgh Theatre Project, led by Stephanie Knight participated in a playwriting workshop with Sylvia developing a short play each.
We followed that with a session in the theatre where their plays were rehearsed by a team of professional actors, Andy Gourlay, Natalie Cowie, and Mary Gapinski, and then performed to a substantial crowd of friends and relatives. This group were a joy to be with, sending in new drafts of their work right up to performance day and in a couple of cases additional plays, all of which were performed on the night. The whole group came to see STUFF when it was performed at NEA.
I passed your email onto Stephanie who replied saying ‘we were delighted and we have taken the work that was generated by the workshops and performance and developed it further. It resonated with the Theatre project participants. We appreciated the quality, sensitivity and insightful work that Sylvia did, and the important performance of STUFF that had such meaning for the audience as a consequence of the work developed in the workshops. We look forward to developing future projects and events in partnership with both Muriel and Sylvia.’
